Nombuso Nkambule

Nombuso Nkambule, M.D., is a co-founder of Secha Capital and has worked with the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Previously, she was a clinical doctor at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg.

Nombuso has a rich history in social enterprise and empowering the women of South Africa: She is the former Director of Royal Kalanga, a female cooperative social enterprise in Limpopo which assists disenfranchised women to develop trade skills and access markets. At the Clinton Health Access Initiative, she continued her work in community health development where she supported program design, grant management and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for national and provincial HIV projects targeting youth.

While earning her M.D. from The University of Witwatersrand, Nombuso practised family medicine across South Africa, most notably in Johannesburg, Klerksdorp and Bushbuckridge.

Brendan Mullen BW

Brendan Mullen is the Managing Director of Secha Capital and has over 10 years of investment and advisory experience in both the USA and Africa.

He was previously a consultant with Bain & Company in its Johannesburg office, where he focused on agribusiness, FMCG, retail and energy. Previous to Bain, Brendan worked as a venture fellow at SJF Ventures, an impact investing venture capital firm. He began his career as a bond analyst at Putnam Investments, a Boston-based global asset manager. Brendan’s first experience in sub-Saharan Africa was as an advisor to the Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship. His work with AAE, Bain and Secha has encompassed 12 different countries on the continent.
